Patient Education

Bite the gauze firmly for 1 hour (1/2 hour for baby tooth) to help stop bleeding. If bleeding persists, Change to new gauze and continue biting firmly for another ½ to 1 hour or until the bleeding stops.
Do not rinse mouth vigorously for 24 hours after the treatment. Keep teeth and mouth clean by brushing gently after meal but avoid touching the wound.
During the first week after the treatment, gently rinse mouth with warm salt water (1/2 teaspoon of salt with 1 glass of warm water) several times a day to help heal the wound.
Take medications as prescribed by the dentist:
- Pain relief medication : Take 1-2 tablets only when necessary
- Antibiotics (prescriped in some cases): Must take the complete dosage prescribed.
- Special mouth-rinse: Use as recommended by the dentist.
